Takaful Ikhlas targets 50% revenue growth FY08

PETALING JAYA: Takaful Ikhlas Sdn Bhd is targeting more than 50% revenue growth in its financial year ending March 31, 2008 (FY08). In FY07, its family takaful revenue reached RM61mil and this year's target is RM95mil. Likewise, it is working on raising its general takaful revenue from RM53mil to RM75mil. “The figure is realistic and achievable, Insya Allah,” senior vice-president (business operations) Wan Mohd Fadzlullah Wan Abdullah told Bernama. His optimism is based on the fact that revenue from all groups had exceeded RM70mil in the first three months of FY08. Takaful Ikhlas has recruited about 7,000 agents throughout the country since its operations began four years ago. However, only 4,000 remained active, Wan Fadzlullah said, adding: “We now recruit around 150 new agents a month.” Takaful Ikhlas regarded its staff and agents as “missionaries” (dakwah) who indirectly educated the community through their dealings, he said. “The principles of Islam in the insurance business are given top priority while the income derived from it is secondary,” Wan Fadzlullah said. Takaful Ikhlas has been in business since July 2003. – Bernama
