Lembaga Tabung Haji is discussing with several banks, including Bank Islam, to enable its depositors to conduct transactions at automated teller machines (ATM).
Its group managing director Datuk Ismee Ismail said the board hopes to see the plan materialise in the first half of 2008."We will use the banks' infrastructure rather than set up an ATM network of our own which could be costly," he said.Speaking to reporters after Tabung Haji's dividend announcement for 2007 in Putrajaya yesterday, Ismee said for starters, the board plans to work closely with Bank Islam, in which it is the largest shareholder to provide the facility."Bank Islam has 288 branches nationwide but the number of ATMs is higher than that, including those located in shopping complexes and other places," he said.
